Multifunctionality and quarter development

A lot of Hight Streets are monocultural – many streets are deserted after business hours. Many cities therefore prefer multi-faceted projects and the development of entire quarters which can include residential and office areas as well as hotels and outdoor seating of restaurants.  Even if it is difficult at first, the results can be a success if the cities have a detailed concept which considers feasibility and profitability.

For example, ECE did not only integrate a historic building, but also office spaces and a hotel into the extension of Altmarkt-Galerie in Dresden. Skyline Plaza Frankfurt houses a large fitness and wellness center and a spectacular roof garden with various cultural and restaurant offers. ECE developed the congress center "Kap Europa" in the neighborhood of the center. And in Stuttgart, the Milaneo at Mailänder Platz is a city quarter which comprises hundreds of apartments, retailers, offices, and a hotel.

Shopping centers can take the leading role in the development of a quarter. Around Rathaus-Galerie Leverkusen with an integrated assembly hall of the city council a new city square was built. ECE developed Rhein-Galerie in Ludwigshafen on a fallow area of the former Zollhofhafen harbour and connected the city center to the banks of the river Rhine for the first time.
