Collection and processing of personal data

You can visit the pages of ECE without us requiring any personal data from you. We will only know which IP address accessed which page at what time. This information is analyzed for statistical purposes only; the individual user remains anonymous.

On some pages you can enter personal data in input boxes such as your name and your address. This data is only processed for our correspondence with you and the purpose for which you submitted this data to us. If you contacted us via an application form then this information is transmitted in encrypted form to reduce the risk of misuse of the data by third parties.

Access data/server log files

ECE collects data on every access to the pages (so-called server log files). This access data includes:

Name of the visited site, file, date and time of the visit, volume of transmitted data, report on successful access, browser type plus version, user's operating system, referrer URL (previously visited page), IP address and the requesting provider.

ECE uses the log data only for statistical analyses with the purpose of operation, safety and optimization of the website. However, ECE reserves the right to subsequently examine the log data if there are justified reasons to believe the website was used unlawfully.

Usage of personal data

Personal data is information with which a person can be identified, i.e. data that can be traced back to a person. This includes the name, email address or phone number, but also data on preferences, hobbies, memberships or which pages visited by a person belong to personal data.

Personal data is collected, used and forwarded by ECE only if it is statutorily permitted or the users agree to such data collection.


When contacting ECE (e.g. via the contact form or email), the information provided by the user is saved for the purpose of processing the request as well as the case of follow-up questions.

Press distribution list and newsletter

With the entry in the press distribution or newsletter list you agree that we send you the latest press releases / newsletters directly by email.

If you want to receive the press releases / newsletters, we need your valid email address as well as information that clearly show that you are the owner of this email address or that the owner agrees to receive such press releases / newsletters. Further data is not collected. This data is only used for the dispatch of press releases / newsletters and not forwarded to third parties.

When registering for the press distribution or newsletter list we save your IP address and the registration date. This only serves the purpose of verification in case a third party misuses an email address and registers for the receipt of press releases / newsletters without the knowledge of the authorized.

Your consent to store the data, email address as well as their usage for the dispatch of press releases / newsletters can be revoked at any time. Such revocation can be realized via a link stated in the individual press releases, on the website (deregistration from press mailing listunsubscribe from the newsletter) or by sending a message to the above-listed contacts.

ECE blog

Commenting: If you leave a comment on our blog, both your name and your e-mail address will be saved. However, both data will not be used for any purpose other than the blog commenting. Published on the website will only be the name you choose, which of course can also be a pseudonym. The email address will not be published.

Social media plug-ins: The blog uses social media plug-ins. The plug-ins are marked with a Facebook, XING, LinkedIn or Twitter logo, as applicable. After you click on a plug-in, your browser makes a connection with the servers of the operator of the social network. The operator is informed that the user has accessed the relevant page. If the user is logged into Facebook and/or Twitter, the operator can link the visit to the user’s account. When you interact with the plug-ins, the corresponding information is transmitted directly to the operator of the relevant network and stored there. Google Analytics: The blog website uses Google Analytics, a web analysis service of Google Inc. (Google Inc., 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway Mountain View, CA 94043, USA). Google Analytics uses so-called cookies, text data that is saved on your computer to enable an analysis of your use of this website. The information generated by the cookie regarding your use of this website is, as a rule, transferred to a Google server in the USA and stored there. If IP anonymisation is activated during use of this website, your IP address is shortened beforehand by Google, however, for users from within the member states of the European Union or in other signatory states to the European Economic Area agreement. Only in exceptional cases will the complete IP address be transferred to a Google server in the USA and shortened there. Integration of third party services and content

It may happen that third party content such as YouTube videos, Google maps, RSS feeds or graphics from other websites is included in our online content. This always assumes that the providers of such content (hereinafter "third party providers) perceive the users' IP address. Without the IP address they cannot send the content to the browser of the respective user. The IP address is needed for the displaying of content. We try to only use such content whose providers use the IP address only for the delivery of the content. However, we cannot influence if third party providers save the IP address e.g. for statistical purposes. As far as we are aware of this we inform our users.

YouTube: We use the so-called "privacy-enhanced mode" of the provider YouTube in order to embed videos. During this process, a cookie is stored on your computer, which, according to YouTube, does not contain any personal information. Cookies are small files allowing to save specific, device-related information on the access device (PC, smartphone or suchlike). On the one hand, they serve the usability of websites and thus the users (e.g. storage of login data). On the other hand, they serve the collection of statistical data of the website usage and the possible analysis of such data for the improvement of content. Registration function

The data entered in the framework of the registration are used for the purpose of the usage of the website. The users can be informed by email about the content and registration-relevant information such as adjustments to the scope of content or technical circumstances. The collected data can be taken from the entry form in the framework of the registration.


This content uses Piwik, an open-source software for statistical analyses of user access, which is recommended by the data protection authority.

Piwik uses so called cookies, text files saved on the users' PC and allowing the analysis of the website usage. The cookies-generated information on the usage of the content is stored on the provider's server in Germany. The IP address is immediately anonymized after processing and before storage. User can prevent the installation of cookies with respective settings in their browser software. However, the provider will informs the user in such a case that it might be possible that not all of the website's functions can be used to their full extent.

Privacy rights – photographs and video footage

We take photographs or film footage at our events, which might be published later. Please inform our photographer if you do not wish to be included in any individual or group photographs or on video footage.

Revocation, adjustments, corrections and updates

The user is entitled to obtain, upon request and free of charge, information on the personal data stored about them. Additionally, the user shall be entitled to the correction of incorrect data as well as the blocking and deletion of their personal data unless there is no statutory documentation obligation.
