ALSTERTAL-EINKAUFSZENTRUM, HAMBURG
Opening
The center was opened in 1970 and underwent wide-ranging modernisation and extension in 1990/91. It was modernised once again in 2001. The Alstertal-Einkaufszentrum has been one of Europe's top shopping addresses for 35 years now. The purchasing power index in the surrounding region is far above the average at up to 140.
Since 2006 AEZ and the surrounding area house a modern, cosmopolitan zone with piazza, cafes, restaurants, water features and an abundance of green. A further new feature was the impressive entrance portal with a bright glass-and-sandstone facade which is illuminated to striking effect in the evening hours. In the spring of 2005 the first earth was turned as well as the foundation stone was laid for the extension project. The Extension was completed in September 2006. The overall restructuring project was completed in autumn of 2007.
Sales area
Following the expansion with an additional 17,000 square metres of sales area on three levels, the AEZ now has a total sales area of around 59,000 square metres.
Branch and tenant mix
The AEZ boasts a branch mix of the very highest standard. The center offers around 240 shops including famous international fashion stores and boutiques, a hypermarket, fashion outlets, a consumer electronics store, three supermarkets, a gourmet food court, service outlets and restaurants/cafés.
