Architecture and Urban Development
Buildings and structures play a decisive role in determining the image of our towns and cities. They can add atmosphere and flair to an “urban landscape”, resulting in a setting in which people feel at home. Aesthetic architectural designs and high quality standards have created unique squares and quarters in many European metropolises – places full of life and variety.
The 300 or so architects and construction managers at ECE are committed to these high standards. The commercial properties they develop either alone or in cooperation with reputed partners like Renzo Piano, Gerkan, Marg and Partners or Prof. Dr. Gunter Henn meet the most exacting quality requirements, blend in harmoniously with their surroundings, and are always characterised by elegance and functionality.
In the case of new construction projects, the nature of planning activities depends on the project development concept. They sometimes begin right at the outset and involve the compilation of studies and the development of preliminary design drafts. The architects draw up all the calculations for areas and layouts and compile the key facts and figures sent out to bidders; they also handle the ongoing planning for the retail areas by re-letting vacant premises and optimising shop designs as part of their project management remit, and they monitor and provide support services for changes of this kind. In addition, the architects are responsible for interior design, in particular the layout of the mall, planning of the adjacent surroundings and other public areas.
During all phases. the construction management team handles the full range of activities relating to costs, deadlines, contracts and quality of work execution. It is this thorough, front-to-end approach that has made ECE a byword for quality projects completed in budget and on time
