Conversion of existing buildings
All our shopping centers periodically undergo total refurbishment – as only centers that move with the times in terms of both functionality and appearance stay attractive in the long-run and are successful. As a long-term investor, ECE stands by its locations and regularly implements modernisation schemes while the shopping centers remain open in order to cater to changes in retail and to keep up to date with the latest trends. A current example is the extension and restructuring of the Altertal-Einkaufszentrum in Hamburg.
The outstanding examples of conversions of existing building include the railway stations in Leipzig, Cologne and Hannover, where a combination of modern transport interchange and retail and service centers have been tastefully integrated in the various historic buildings. In all cases, particular importance was attached to preserving, integrating and restoring protected structures. Thus ECE takes over all planning and realisation services for the restructuring and revitalisation.
