04/03/2008: ECE to build “Volga Mall” in Togliatti, Russia
European market leader for shopping centers invests €100m
Start of construction on the “Triangle” area
ECE Projektmanagement, the European market leader for inner-city shopping centers, is building a modern shopping center with more than 90,000 square meters of gross floor space (leasable area: 60,000 sqm) in Togliatti. The project was presented to the Mayor of the city of Togliatti, Mr. Pushkov, on 3rd April. “We are very happy to announce that ECE, a company with an international reputation, will be building a high quality shopping center in our city,” said Mr. Pushkov. Mr. Kurylin, first vice-mayor of Togliatti, stated: “This investment marks the start for the development of a whole city quarter on the area of “Triangle” with apartments, offices and shopping facilities.” For the construction of “Volga Mall” ECE invests appox. 100 million euros and creates more than 1,500 new jobs. The shopping center will be the biggest in Togliatti and is scheduled to open in 2010.
Togliatti is known as the capital of Russian car industry. The city is home of the company Awtowas (Lada) and is the second biggest city of the Volga region. “Volga Mall” will house many big shops like a DIY, a hypermarket, a big store for electronics and many sizable fashion shops. In total more than 160 Russian and international brands will open their shops in “Volga Mall”. “Thanks to our excellent connections with the big retail chains, I am very confident that many international fashion houses will have a presence in the shopping center”, said Stefan Zeiselmaier, General Manager of ECE Russia.
The location of the shopping center is easily accessible by car and public transport. Approx. 3,000 parking spaces will be created for the customers. More than 950,000 inhabitants of Togliatti and the surrounding region can reach “Volga Mall” within one hour driving time. “Togliatti is a vibrant industrial center with bright perspectives for future development. Our aim is to create the best shopping center of the region, which will offer a huge variety of goods and services on an international standard”, said Maria Saltykova, ECE project manager for “Volga Mall”.
