Turkish company Kayi takes over construction site
Serdika Center with 218 shops to open in the beginning of 2010
The construction works for the Serdika Center in Sofia have reached an important milestone: the excavation works have been completed and a general contractor for the remaining works has been appointed. The Turkish construction company Kayi will build the Serdika Center, which is going to open in the beginning of 2010. “I’m glad that we managed to attract Kayi for the construction of the Serdika Center”, said Plamen Iltchev, General Manager of ECE Bulgaria. “We are cooperating with the company already on other projects, for example in Lithuania, and we know Kayi as a reliable partner.”
Even today – almost two years before opening – 70 percent of the shopping center is leased out. “This number shows, how much the retailers are convinced, that the Serdika Center is going to be one of the most attractive locations for shopping in Sofia”, said Iliana Schmalteka, General Manager of Immorent BULGARIA and representative of Sparkassen Immobilien AG. Sparkassen Immobilien AG and ECE Projektmanagement, the European market leader for shopping centers, are jointly developing the Serdika Center. The total investment volume of the modern shopping gallery is EUR 210m. With its more than 51,000 square meters of sales space on three levels, around 218 high-quality shops, and about 35,000 square meters of office space, the Serdika Center will be one of the biggest shopping and office centers in Sofia. More than 2,000 new jobs will be created within the framework of the project.
