Comprehensive mall refurbishment and new tenants
ECE modernizes Gesundbrunnen-Center in Berlin. Almost 20 years after its opening, the center will undergo a complete makeover. Based on a comprehensive refurbishment the center will get a new appearance and a fresh look. The recently started modernization will be completed by fall 2017. The overall investment amounts to tens of million euros.
The modernization aims to boost the quality of stay at Gesundbrunnen-Center and to provide a modern appearance to the center. It will include an optimized lighting concept in the mall with modern lamps, attractive, comfortable new seating, new design elements from warm materials such as wood and many more improvements to the interior design. The old escalators will be replaced by modern models that use considerably less space. Thus, the interior will appear larger and ensure a friendlier and brighter atmosphere.
There is also news regarding the tenant mix: The off-price retailer TK Maxx and the first REWE Center in Berlin will open at Gesundbrunnen-Center. A REWE Center is a large REWE grocery store that has the double the size of an ordinary supermarket, a sales area of nearly 3,300 m², and an assortment of approximately 35,000 products.
With its 110 stores on a sales area of nearly 25,000 m², Gesundbrunnen-Center is the central shopping hub in the Gesundbrunnen district which is conveniently located for visitors using public transport services. In addition, approximately 1,000 parking spaces are available to visitors arriving by car.
