GOODS DISPATCH CENTER FOR OTTO GROUP, HALDENSLEBEN

Facts and Figures

At a total cost of 200 million Euro, ECE built a state-of-the-art computer-controlled dispatch centre for Otto Versand with a gross floor area of around 105,000 qm in the town of Haldensleben.

Over a total site area of 53 hectares, the project combines high-tech architecture with an employee-friendly overall concept. This concept comprises the very latest conveying and storage systems, the use of alternative solar energy and, above all, generously dimensioned water areas and (10,000 qm) and landscaped zones (300,000 qm).

The 28-metre high-bay storage system has a total capacity of 600,000 cartons. Other key data: 5,400 pallet storage slots, 80-100 sorter packing locations, 47 packing locations, 10,000 metres of conveying systems, and space for 40 trucks, 103 interchangeable truck bodies and 20 wagons. The high-tech centre has an average capacity of 240,000 order items per day or 30 million consignments a year.

Increasing capacity requirements in recent years have resulted in the building of further construction phases. After completion of the second and third section, the distribution center already had about 155,000 square meters of gross floor area. With the completion of the fourth phase of construction in October 2010 there are additional 12,000 square meters.
