BAHNHOFCITY WIEN HAUPTBAHNHOF
Until fall 2014, the existing Vienna South Train Station will be rebuilt to become ViennaCentral Station. This new and centrally located through station will not merely be a traffic hub, but as BahnhofCity it will represent a city within the city: an urban center offering shopping, service and gastronomic facilities as well as hotels and offices in a completely new dimension. A modern shopping center with a retail area of 20,000 square meters will be built in the station concourse beneath the future trackage. Natural light, easy orientation and barrier-free access are provided thanks to modern architecture - high-quality materials and a tailored branch mix guarantee a high-quality environment. Thus, the train station will turn into an attractive meeting point offering shopping and entertainment in a pleasant atmosphere.
Opening
Construction work started in 2010. Opening is planned for fall 2014.
Retail Area
The retail area is going to comprise approximately 20,000 square meters spread on two levels. Approximately 115 shops will be created.
