Facts and Figures

Mannheim city centre will soon add a new jewel to its crown: Peek & Cloppenburg is building a new "Weltstadthaus" store at the heart of the Planken shopping precinct in Mannheim. Designed by US star architect Richard Meier, the complex will house a sales area of around 12,500 m² spread over five elegant sales levels. Hamburg-based ECE is developing the "Weltstadthaus" for Peek & Cloppenburg as general contractor through its subsidiary GB Immobilien.

In terms of civic development and architectural design, the new "Weltstadthaus" complex is a landmark project for the future of Mannheim. A facade made of glass and natural stone will give the new building an elegant and transparent air. The plans for the interior include a round glass-covered light courtyard with a large sundial. The light-flooded sales premises, the clear-cut contours and the use of natural materials will create a friendly and elegant atmosphere.
