Thier-Galerie Dortmund, the trademark of Dortmund's downtown, was awarded the "Across Award 2012" as the most innovative new shopping center in Europe due to its spectacular architecture, among other things. The four-story "house within a house" ensures an exceptional spatial experience in the glass-roofed interior connected to the surrounding shopping streets through 25 bridges. The eye-catcher and main entrance portal at the Westenhellweg promenade is the reconstructed facade of a former trading house from Germany's period of rapid industrial expansion. An additional highlight is the exterior terrace of the shopping center, which is meant to be a special food court attraction.
