In the middle of Ludwigsburg, at the northern end of the pedestrian zone, lies the new Marstall. After extensive refurbishment, the shopping center has had a completely new look since 2015, housing a multitude of shops and service companies as well as varied dining offerings. Marstall opens up into the city by an outside terrace, the seating steps of the Marstall staircase, and the seating in the Reithausplatz. It thus enlivens the surrounding streets and squares.

The refurbished architectural interior design pays tribute to the location's historic roots. “Marstall” used to be the German name for “horse stable”. Respective elements are included in the center design in the form of stable doors or horse sculptures. Outdoors, a covering of light natural stone and an open metal structure in combination with high shop windows break up the former bunkeresque building facade.
