Refurbishment by ECE

Continuous modernizations, modifications and expansions of shopping centers have always been among ECE's core competences. "Only those who keep their centers up-to-date will be successful in the long term," says a convinced ECE CEO Alexander Otto. However, there is a massive demand for revitalization on the complete shopping center market. For ECE and its unique know-how, this is a large field of activity with a lot of potential. How "Refurbishment by ECE" works is shown by different revitalization project examples." It was possible to revitalize long-standing shopping centers with a management takeover, comprehensive modernizations, and a marketing relaunch.

A prime example is the transformation of the completely desolate "Hamburger Strasse" shopping center into the vibrant "Hamburger Meile". After the overhaul with a completely readjusted branch mixture and a new food court as a culinary point of attraction, the center has been presenting itself again as popular meeting point since 2010.

In Saarbrücken, ECE created another reference project for its refurbishment activities. On behalf of Credit Suisse, ECE revitalized not only the former Saargalerie, but also expanded it by the neighboring heritage-protected Bergwerksdirektion. The shopping gallery reopened in 2010 under the name Europa-Galerie and impresses mainly with the preserved external facade under monumental protection and other historic elements, among them unique cantilever cast-iron stairs, tiled floors, precious leaded windows and a ballroom.

The refurbishment projects include Europa-Passage in Hamburg, Rheinpark-Center in Neuss (2011), A 10 Center in Berlin (2011), Kö Galerie in Düsseldorf, Sophienhof in Kiel (2013), Marstall shopping gallery in Ludwigsburg, and Loom in Bielefeld (2017).
