Completion of Campus Hamburg in Barmbek: ECE hands over key for modern office complex

Today, ECE celebrated the completion of the new office building Campus Hamburg in Hamburg's Barmbek district with the official handover of the keys to the future users. Tenants in the newly developed office complex are the French Société Générale Group, with its companies Bank Deutsches Kraftfahrzeuggewerbe, Hanseatic Bank and Société Générale Insurance as well as the central departments Purchasing and Auditing, and the elevator specialist Schindler. In total, the six-story office property offers around 1,700 modern workplaces on an area of 26,000 m2 - an area of around 3,000 m² is currently still available.

Dr. Andreas Dressel, Finance Senator of the City of Hamburg: "Campus Hamburg is an important building block both for the further development of the Barmbek district and for Hamburg as a financial center. The Société Générale Group is creating highly attractive workplaces here in a modern sustainable office building that integrates very well architecturally into this lively district."

Campus Hamburg was planned and developed by ECE Work & Live, which has invested a total of 120 million euros in the location on Fuhlsbüttler Straße. The general contractor is Goldbeck GmbH. The property will be owned by Warburg-HIH Invest Real Estate, which had already secured the project in 2020.

Alexander Otto, CEO of ECE Group: "With Campus Hamburg, we have realized a modern, flexible, sustainable, and energy-efficient property that meets the highest standards for working in the future. I am particularly pleased that in close cooperation and true teamwork with all partners involved, we succeeded in completing the building on time and within the planned budget despite the many difficult conditions."

The Hamburg Campus offers state-of-the-art offices and is optimally designed for working in the future - with flexible floor plans and a modular building structure, a variable combination of open office areas as well as combi or individual offices, landscaped courtyards, outdoor areas and roof terraces, a shared conference center and a cafeteria.

Guido Zoeller, Société Générale Group, Country Head of Germany & Austria: "In our new office building, built according to sustainable standards, we can optimally implement our ideas and concepts of modern working, an innovative working environment and creative exchange. That's why we are very pleased that we can now move into the new campus together with our employees, inaugurate it and use it efficiently."

ECE has planned and implemented the Campus Hamburg with a consistent focus on sustainability, a DGNB certificate in gold is targeted: Thus, the new building is highly energy-efficient and is tempe-rated via efficient energy floors and air-to-water heat pumps. In addition to an underground parking garage for around 350 vehicles, there are around 250 bicycle parking spaces and the office campus is optimally connected to the public transport system via the Rübenkamp S-Bahn station and will be additionally connected to the subway network in the future with a stop on the new U5 line.

For its outstanding digital connectivity, the Hamburg campus has also already received WiredScore's Platinum certificate, the highest rating for "Best in Class" connectivity in buildings.

ECE has also integrated five listed former farm workers' cottages on the campus site, which have been carefully restored to their original condition in close cooperation with the Office for the Protection of Historical Monuments. Two parent-child offices will move in there, as well as showers and changing rooms for cycling office workers, and there will also be a museum apartment where people can find out about life in the past at this location.
