Mixed-use, please!
Modern apartments, office workplaces, and hotels in close proximity to restaurants, shopping centers, and recreational activities – the future belongs to mixed-use concepts. The planning of urban neighborhoods is one that requires expertise and know-how. Our experience and expertise in the realization of complex large-scale projects gives us everything we need to realize such projects. Our forward-looking neighborhood development projects combine living, working, and shopping spaces, as well as recreational activities, in a unique way that creates lively urban centers.
With Milaneo in Stuttgart, we have created, together with STRABAG Real Estate, a concept unique in Germany in the middle of the Europaviertel. Three separate buildings form a lively urban quarter with lively squares and alleys and a balanced mix of retail and gastronomic offerings, inner city living, offices, and a hotel. Together with the new municipal library on Mailänder Platz, Milaneo forms the heart of the new quarter on the site of the former freight yard. Mailänder Platz completes the ensemble with green spaces, outdoor restaurants, and a body of water.
Together with our partners, we have developed “Mitte Altona”, which is comprised of 1,600 apartments on a former railway site in Hamburg. After HafenCity, Mitte Altona is the second largest urban development project in Hamburg. In addition to residential buildings with subsidized and rental apartments, as well as condominiums, the new district includes a park, local squares, day-care centers, and a school. “Mitte Altona” has purposefully less vehicle traffic and takes into account the concept of inclusion.
Hamburg Senator of Finance
“With Mitte Altona, Hamburg, cooperation with the ECE, has received a new, livable urban quarter that offers people of all origins and classes an affordable home and, as a showcase project, meets the needs of a diverse and modern urban society.”
City quarter instead of shopping center: Originally, we wanted to build a new shopping center in the northwest of the vibrant metropolis of Budapest. The initial project soon gave rise to the vision of transforming the 35,000 square meter site into a mixed-use urban quarter with offices, hotels, gastronomic offerings, and retail stores. The mixed-use project, which is made up of four phases, is scheduled to begin in 2023.
