Cross-border cooperation: Commerz Real commissions ECE for shopping center management in Turkey for the first time

Commerz Real has assigned ECE for the first time with the management one of its international shopping centers. The two companies are thus extending their long-standing cooperation in the retail real estate sector in Germany to international business. The new Commerz Real contract was awarded as part of a competitive tender and comprises the long-term management, leasing, and strategic development of "Forum Bornova" in the Turkish city of Izmir by ECE Türkiye, the local subsidiary of ECE Marketplaces.

"It is a great success for us and our team in Turkey that we were able to convince Commerz Real as a long-standing partner to appoint ECE for the first time with the management of one of its international shopping centers. We want to deliver the same standards of quality, creativity, and profitability there, and sustainably develop the center together," says Joanna Fisher, CEO of ECE Marketplaces.

Opened in 2006, the open-air shopping center "Forum Bornova" has a sales area of more than 60,000 m² and offers around 130 stores from national and international brands, including IKEA, MIGROS and various concepts from the Inditex Group, a multiplex movie theatre, numerous cafés and restaurants as well as open spaces and terraces. More than 10 million visitors a year frequent the center located in the northeast of Izmir. Since its construction, it has been part of the portfolio of Commerz Real's Hausinvest real estate fund.

With the operator mandate for Forum Bornova, ECE Türkiye, the largest local subsidiary of ECE Marketplaces, has recorded another success in the extension of its management portfolio and now operates a total of 13 centers. The leasing rate of the centers under its management in Turkey is almost 100 percent.

In Germany, ECE Marketplaces already manages the Regensburg Arcaden and the Stadtgalerie Schweinfurt on behalf of Commerz Real.
