Questions about the application process

You can find answers to our most frequently asked questions here! If your question isn’t answered here, please contact our recruiting specialists.

Which method of applying does ECE prefer?

We prefer to receive applications via our online form. If you don’t have the technical capabilities to submit an application online, don’t worry. Please send your application via e-mail to karriere@ece.de.

What information does my application need to include?

To ensure that we can forward your application to the right department and process it as quickly as possible, please help us by providing the following information:

  • The position you are applying for (job title in the advertisement)
  • Complete application documents such as your résumé (up to 5MB), certificates/references (i.e. letters of recommendation and vocational training certificates), and a portfolio (for architectural positions) - each up to 10MB file size
  • Where you saw the job listing
  • For unsolicited applications, detailed information about the field in which you are interested in working

What happens after I have sent in my application?

After we have received your application, you will receive confirmation of receipt from us. Your application documents will then be reviewed by HR Recruiting and the department you are applying to itself. If we still have unanswered questions, we will conduct an initial telephone or video interview with you.

In the event that both sides are interested, you will be invited to up to two face-to-face interviews so that we can get to know each other personally. You will usually receive feedback from the recruiting specialist responsible for you throughout the application process.

Once we have decided to hire you, we will send you an offer and draw up an employment contract.

If, during the application process, we discover that your profile and our requirements don’t match after all, you will usually receive a rejection letter.

What happens to my documents if I am not hired for the position?

If we decide not to hire you, we will keep your application documents for six months from the date of rejection (as stipulated in applicable data protection laws). After this time, your documents will be deleted.

What city will I work in?

If you apply for a position in one of our departments at ECE headquarters, your workplace will be in Hamburg. Depending on the position, the job may involve a significant amount of travel.

If you apply for the position of Center Manager, you must be willing to relocate throughout Germany. We can only tell you which location you will be assigned to after you complete your training.

Will I be reimbursed for travel expenses for the interviews?

Yes. Please note that the maximum we will cover is the cost of a second-class train ticket. Flights and hotel accommodation must be arranged with us in advance. To be reimbursed for travel expenses, please send us the completed form attached to the invitation together with the original receipts.

We will still reimburse you for the cost of traveling to and from your interview even if we do not end up hiring you.

When do the trainee programs at ECE start?

Because this is highly dependent on the field of work, we are unable to provide a general answer here. Please refer to the information available about the respective trainee program that you are specifically interested in (see the “Career opportunities for college graduates” section).

Can I do an internship after completing my degree?

Yes, we can offer you an internship during a gap year after you have earned your bachelor’s degree or if you are planning on pursuing a master’s degree.

Can I send you an unsolicited application?

Yes, you are welcome to submit an unsolicited application. Your chances of being hired are higher, however, if you apply for a position we are actively looking to fill.In order to correctly process your application, it’s important that you clearly state your motivation for applying for a position in a specific field or profession. Please note that we only accept unsolicited applications online and via e-mail karriere(at)ece.de. We regret to inform you that we cannot return applications sent to us by mail.
