ECE is developing a Ruby brand hotel in Copenhagen for the first time which is also the Ruby Group's first site in Denmark. ECE Work & Live as project developer and the Ruby Group as operator recently signed a long-term lease contract for the planned hotel building in the municipality of Frederiksberg in the heart of Copenhagen.
The lean luxury hotel will have 219 modern design rooms and attractive public areas, including a winter garden on the ground floor and a roof terrace with panoramic views. Construction is scheduled to start in the second half of 2025, with the opening planned for early 2027.
Henrie W. Kötter, CEO of ECE Work & Live, says: "Our first hotel project in Denmark is a perfect example for our strategy of acquiring existing assets or plots of land in selected attractive metropolitan areas in Europe and developing them with investment and know-how into sustainable, user-oriented properties that are attractive to end investors. We are very pleased to realize this exciting project together with the Ruby Group as our partner."
Elena Günther-Jakobs, Associate Director for Central & Northern Europe at the Ruby Group, comments: "Copenhagen has always been a top priority for us, and we’re thrilled to finally make our market entry in Denmark. The city’s dynamic atmosphere, with its rich art scene, lively culture, and renowned gastronomy, makes it a perfect fit for our target group. We are excited to continue our successful partnership with ECE and to bring our unique hospitality offering to this thriving and growing market."
ECE Work & Live is developing and realizing the new Ruby Hotel by converting an existing office property located directly on the main shopping street Gammel Kongevej. The location is characterized by high-quality residential quarters, attractive retail concepts, plenty of greenery and good transport connections to the city center and the airport. ECE acquired the site with the existing property last year and is investing a total of around 65 million euros in the project.
ECE Work & Live is currently realizing another hotel building in Italy together with Ruby Group as a partner. It is developing a historic building in the heart of Rome into a Ruby Hotel with 164 rooms. Other hotel projects currently realized by the ECE Group include the modernization of a historic hotel building in the old town of Venice and its repositioning as a 5-star lifestyle hotel and the development of a hotel building operated by Stayery on the roof of the Gesundbrunnen Center in Berlin by the Group company ECE Real Estate Partners.
ECE Work & Live was legally consulted by Accura, Copenhagen, on the conclusion of the lease contract with Ruby Group.
